Couples and Family Counseling

Life Changes Group offers a variety of services to strengthen and develop healthy relationships.

Couples therapy helps couples — married or not — understand and resolve conflicts and improve the quality of their relationship. With the support of our counselors, couples therapy is intended to provide couples with the tools to communicate better, negotiate differences, problem solve, and even argue in a healthier and more constructive way.

Couples therapy can be short term. You may need only a few sessions to resolve specific problems impacting your relationship. Alternatively, you may need therapy for several months, particularly if your relationship has greatly deteriorated and communication styles are very dissimilar. As with individual psychotherapy, couples counseling typically involves once-weekly meetings with emphasis on genuine discussion and collaboration.

Family therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves all the members of a nuclear or extended family. This approach regards the family, as a whole, as the unit of treatment, and emphasizes such factors as relationships and communication patterns rather than traits or symptoms in individual family members. This type of therapy can be especially helpful when processing change, loss, or crises that impact the whole family system.
