Dr. Tal Katz is a clinical psychologist licensed in Massachusetts. His clinical approach is rooted in Motivational Interviewing principles. Clients can expect to experience a supportive, respectful, and collaborative relationship that emphasizes respect for their autonomy in the process of developing measurable and achievable change goals. He primarily employs CBT and Acceptance-based strategies to address a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, adjustment concerns and coping with chronic illness. He enjoys working with young adults, adults, and older adults.
Dr. Katz is originally from Israel and has been in the Boston area since 2003. He earned a B.A. in psychology through a combined program at Hebrew College and Northeastern University, and his M.A. and Ph.D in clinical psychology at the University of South Carolina. He conducted research on chronic health conditions and their effect on social, emotional, and cognitive functioning. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at Tewksbury Hospital where he worked with adult and older adult populations with complex medical and mental health conditions. As a post-doctoral fellow, Dr. Katz worked as part of the academic and behavioral support team in a K-8 school administering brief psycho-educational assessments and assisting with development and implementation of behavioral plans for individual students. He also interned at a neuropsychology private practice where he conducted neuropsychological evaluations for children and adolescents with varied diagnoses.
Prior to joining Life Changes Group, Dr. Katz has worked in skilled nursing facilities to provide behavioral health services, offering assessment, diagnosis and treatment for individuals and groups with a variety of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, adjustment concerns, trauma, substance use, complex medical conditions, chronic health issues, and cognitive problems.
