Lauren earned her Master’s degree (MSW) in Advanced Clinical Practice Social Work from Columbia University, and become a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Massachusetts. Lauren is passionate about working with individuals across a broad spectrum of backgrounds, socio-economic status, religion, different abilities, race, and sexuality. She has worked in both School and Hospital settings with older adult, adult, adolescent, children, family, and couple populations. Prior to joining Life Changes Group, she worked in Palliative Care at Columbia University Medical Center, and the New York School system. Lauren was also fortunate to receive additional clinical training at Columbia University School of Social Work’s Center for Complicated Grief, where she studied Complicated Grief Therapy for individuals experiencing grief and loss. Lauren brings this framework to sensitively and compassionately treat: Bereavement, Divorce, Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, and Post-Traumatic Stress.
Throughout Lauren’s clinical work, she is constantly amazed by the resilience of her clients, and has witnessed incredible hope and strength even in the most challenging of circumstances. In this vein, Lauren is trained to conduct therapy from a goal-oriented, client-centered, strengths-based perspective. Lauren utilizes the most up to date Evidence Based Practices to manage anxiety and depression like Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Restructuring, and Behavior Activation.
Lauren enjoys nature, spending time with her family and friends, and teaching group fitness classes in her spare time.
