Dr. Emily Wheeler is a psychologist licensed in Massachusetts. She earned her bachelor’s at Mount Holyoke College before earning an MS in mental health counseling and a PhD in counseling psychology at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Emily completed most of her training in the Boston area, working with older adolescents, young adults, and adults in both college counseling and community mental health settings.
Emily’s approach to therapy is collaborative, relational, adaptive, and rooted in the desire to empower the inherent strengths of each individual. She incorporates techniques from cognitive behavioral therapies, psychodynamic therapies, client-centered therapies, mindfulness principles, and multicultural and feminist therapies. She is experienced in working with individuals facing concerns such as depression, anxiety, stress, transitional and adjustment-related issues, identity development, and interpersonal/relationships issues. Emily is particularly passionate about working with individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ or are questioning their gender and/or sexual orientation identities.
