Dr. Amy Hale is a clinical psychologist licensed in Massachusetts and Connecticut. She works primarily with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. She received her undergraduate degree in Intercultural Studies from Houghton College, a Masters in Theological Studies from Regent College in Vancouver, BC, and a Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Connecticut.
Dr. Hale completed her pre-doctoral training at the Institute of Living in Hartford, CT where she worked in pediatrics and psychiatric inpatient treatment and assessment. Her two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Connecticut Health Center Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry involved coordinating a clinical research trial of school-based child anxiety treatment, and seeing patients at the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic. As a psychology fellow Dr. Hale also treated patients at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center within the Department of Gastroenterology. In addition to her work with Life Changes Group, she is a staff psychologist at Boston Children’s Hospital with an appointment as a Clinical Instructor at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Hale’s therapeutic approach is rooted in a relational framework and frequently draws on cognitive behavioral strategies and mindfulness depending on individual needs and preferences. She has a strengths-based approach, with a deep appreciation for people’s natural resilience. Dr. Hale treats a wide range of mental health issues but specializes in anxiety, trauma, depression, psychosomatic illnesses, coping with chronic illness, and co-occurring medical/mental health issues. She enjoys providing individual, family, and group treatment.
